Deaf Friendly Places
The Aqua Splash offers free swimming to carers accompanying deaf children (however beware they only announce the wave machine, there are no flashing lights to indicate it is about to start). We had a great day out at the Amazing maze and they offer group rates for charities and schools www.jerseyleisure.com
Virgin the deaf friendly airline. Parents note "This easter our family is going to Florida on holiday. When booking, I mentioned that our son is profoundly Deaf. I called them and they have said they will adjust their staff rota and will do their best to ensure that there is at least one 'proficient' signer on the flight. They said that this person will be working in our area. They also said that we could play our own DVDs on their player. I will of course give some feedback as to how it all went, but this is obviously something to bear in mind should a BSL user be organising a flight to the US. I have not heard of this being made available on other carriers."
